a facilitator of supervisory alignment and cooperation by conducting peer assessments, organizing training initiatives, supporting joint supervisory actions, and establishing shared EU-wide supervisory priorities;
a direct overseer of specific categories of financial infrastructures and service providers;
a market analyst performing stress tests and issuing studies and reports concerning risks to investors and overall financial stability;
a data and information hub that provides infrastructure and ensures the quality of regulatory data relied upon by supervisors and market participants;
a guardian of the EU’s shared interests in international forums and in dealings with non-EU regulators, advocating for consistent global standards and fostering dialogue with third-country markets and securities authorities;
a technical adviser to the Commission, Parliament, and Council on issues related to securities and market oversight, offering technical guidance, opinions, and reports.
FCRA carries out its work according to two thematic drivers:
Sustainable Finance: FCRA supports the consistent and effective incorporation of sustainability-related considerations into supervision, convergence efforts, risk evaluation, and regulatory work across all sectors.
Technological innovation: It advances resilience and cybersecurity throughout all sectors and encourages aligned regulatory and supervisory approaches to emerging or innovative financial activities and technologies, including crypto-assets.
